The George E. Hatcher House

circa 1914-1915
913 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, NY

The Hatcher House is a unique example of American Craftsman Bungalow design, built during Rensselaer's golden age of rail. The design influences of the Stickley family and the Roycrofter community were the height of popularity in Upstate New York during this era. George E. Hatcher, a carpenter flourishing during Rensselaer's building boom, chose this iconic bungalow design for his own home, which became a showpiece in Rensselaer's North End park district.
